The extension is located on Fairfield Park in Stotfold. This residential development in in an Article 4 direction area which has meant its Class A permitted development rights have been removed. Planning permission was sought for a the removal of a small conservatory which was to be replaced with a slightly larger rear extension to infill a gap between to flank walls. Due to the height of the upper floor windows a low pitch roof was required however the planning department preferred a slate roof finish (traditionaly laid at a steeper pitch). A solution was found through the use of a Redland Cambrian Slate, a product that has been design to lay at a shallow pitch. Whilst the extension was a modest addition, it has made a significant difference to the inside space of the house and has remained in keeping with the surrounding area.
