HAL were asked to design a single-storey side extension to make use of a small, awkwardly shaped space beside this townhouse, located within a conservation area. The extension is barely visible from outside, as it sits neatly behind a garage on one side and tight against a retaining wall on the other.

With limited wall space for windows, the extension is naturally lit by a single large roof lantern, which floods the room with daylight. The result is a bright, practical space that works really well as an extension to the existing kitchen.
