Rear extension in steel and timber frame, Hitchin,

This Victorian mid-terraced property has been extended to the rear to provide a large family dining room. The existing kitchen has been enlarged and a space has been created for a small WC.

The extension is filled with light due to the rear gable being fully glazed, and through the use of rooflights. The client chose not to extend to the side of the existing outrigger, and this has resulted in a room that integrates the garden beautifully.

This site is narrow and access was tight. However, by building a simple steel frame with a timber framed construction between the build was simplified and the footprint of the extension maximised.
