HAL were approached to design a timberframe extension to this characterful cottage, situated next to the river Stort in Sawbridgeworth.

The design extends the kitchen at ground floor from which there is a staircase access to a mezzanine above. The mezzanine level benefits from plenty of light from the rooflights, a dormer and a fully glazed gable end.

The extension was constructed on piled foundations and finished in black boarding to contrast with the existing house.
