Director: Pamela Stokes Architect RIBA ARB

Graduated from University of Wales, College of Cardiff in 1995 with BSc Honours and Batchelor of Architecture. In 1999 I attended Southbank University, London gaining my Professional practice examination. I have been a chartered member of RIBA and ARB registered architect since 1999.

My career started working at a County Council architect’s department as a trainee architect. I then went on to work in the private sector up to associate director level in a medium sized architectural practise.

With over 20 years’ experience as a qualified architect, I have worked nationally across the retail, commercial & domestic sectors, including works to listed buildings and within conservation areas. This has provided me with a solid foundation to inaugurate a local architects’ practice.

The majority of the projects undertaken have involved working with domestic properties, predominantly extensions but also residential conversions and new builds. In addition to this, past projects in other sectors include: community facilities, such as sports clubs and the local church; hotel extension/refurbishment; barn conversion to holiday lets; developers shell retail unit and a light industrial unit. Please do browse through the ‘Projects’ section of this website to see for yourself some of the examples of projects that I have worked.

I love the challenge of working with existing building, whether that be an extension or a conversion. I also have experience of working on listed buildings and within conservation areas. In 2021 I completed an RIBA Conservation Training Course to further develop my skills and understanding in this specialist area.

Whilst many of my projects use traditional construction methods, I have also worked with SIPS panels and modern steel frame building design.

I am particularly keen to design buildings that deliver sustainable outcomes because the built environment has a critical role to play in responding to the climate emergency. Small changes can have big impacts, this can be achieved through choice of materials, building methods and by incorporating renewable energy solutions.
